The origin of the Mountain and Lake Batur origin

In ancient times in a village there lived Kebo Iwa, Kebo Iwa was a large giant. His body was fat and fond of eating. More and more his body grew. Lots of food. he likes to help villagers make houses, lift large stones and make wells. He did not ask for anything in return, only the villagers had to provide enough food for him.

If Kebo Iwa doesn't eat for two days then he will be angry. if he is angry he will go berserk and destroy anything in front of him. No matter the house or temple will be damaged. The garden and rice fields were also damaged.
Because his body is very large, the food is very much. The portion of Kebo Iwa's meal is like preparing a meal for a hundred people. even though villagers do not need their energy, they must continue to provide food for Kebo Iwa. Because if Kebo Iwa is hungry he will be angry and destroy anything.
Until the dry season arrived. All residents' rice barns began to empty. rice and other foodstuffs began to be difficult to obtain. After a long time, the rain didn't come. Residents began to worry about the situation of Kebo Iwa. Because, if he is hungry he will go berserk

It's true that people are worried. one day Kebo Iwa was hungry, but the food was not ready because the supplies of the villagers had run out. Let alone for Kebo Iwa, there is nothing for them to eat alone.

Kebo Iwa was angry and raging. He destroyed houses belonging to residents. the temple as a place of worship was also not spared from the rage of Kebo Iwa.
Residents fled to neighboring villages. But Kebo Iwa continued to chase while shouting, Where's the food for me! Or you prefer to destroy me!

Kebo Iwa is getting fiercer. he not only destroyed buildings, but also ate livestock belonging to residents. The residents were also victims of the violence of Kebo Iwa.
Seeing the damage caused by Kebo Iwa, the population became upset and angry. They set a strategy to kill Kebo Iwa. they invited to make peace with Kebo Iwa. With all kinds of ways they finally could collect a lot of food and then approach Kebo Iwa.
At that time Kebo Iwa had just eaten a buffalo. He satiated and lay on the grass.
Hi Kebo Iwa & hell!! Scold the Village Chief.

What is wrong? Do you want you to approach me? Kebo Iwa asked suspiciously.
Actually we still need your energy. Houses and temples are many that you destroy. What if you help us rebuild it. we will provide a lot of food for you so you don't starve anymore, said the Village Chief.
Food? You will provide delicious food for me? Kebo Iwa's eyes sparkled to hear the word food.
I agree I will make it for you!
Kebo Iwa is happy, not suspicious at all. the next day, Kebo Iwa started working. With a relatively short time, some houses were completed by Kebo Iwa. Meanwhile, the residents were busy collecting limestone in the amount of bears. Kebo Iwa was confused as to why the residents collected limestone so much. whereas the need for limestone for houses and temples is sufficient.
Why do you collect so much limestone? Kebo Iwa asked.

Know Kebo Iwa. After you have finished building our house and temple, we will make you a big and very beautiful house, said the Village Chief.

kebo Iwa was very happy to hear it. There is not the slightest suspicion from him. He is increasingly enthusiastic about helping residents. In just a few days, residents' houses and temples were completed. His job is only to dig a large well. this job takes a long time and requires more energy. Kebo Iwa used his big and strong hands to dig the ground deep. The more days the hole is made deeper. Kebo Iwa's body dropped further down. the pile of ex-excavated land that was in the mouth of the hole was increasingly mounting. Due to exhaustion, Kebo Iwa stopped to rest and eat. He ate very much. Because of fatigue after eating he was sleepy, he fell asleep with a very loud snoring sound.

Kebo Iwa's snoring sound was heard by residents who were above the well. Finally, the residents immediately gathered at the place of the wellbore. They saw Kebo Iwa sleeping deeply in it. that was when the Village Chief led his citizens to throw limestone that they had prepared earlier into the well. Because he was fast asleep, Kebo Iwa did not realize he was in danger.
when the water in the well mixed with the capus began to overflow and clog the nose of Kebo Iwa, then the giant realized. However, limestone throws from the residents are increasing. Kebo Iwa can't do anything. despite having a very large body and very strong power, he was unable to escape from the pile of lime and well water which then buried him alive. Kebo Iwa floundered for a while, his movements caused an earthquake for a moment but then subsided and remained silent. presumably Kebo Iwa was dead buried in the well.

Meanwhile, the well water is increasingly overflowing. The well water flooded the village and formed a lake. The lake is now known as Lake Batur. while heaps of land that are high enough form a hill into a mountain and are called Mount Batur.

The origin of the King of Jambi

In ancient times the Jambi country consisted of five villages, namely the village of Tujuh Koto, Nine Koto, Petajin, Muaro Sebo, and Batin Duo Belas. The five villages do not have a King who will lead the villages.

meanwhile, more and more residents of the five villages are increasingly crowded and developing. Seeing this development, they need a king who is able to lead and unite them.

finally the elders of each village gathered in the Batin Duo Belas Village which was located at the foot of Mount Siguntang for deliberation. they determine the terms of the king who will be chosen later that is to have an advantage between them, How can we know the advantages of each of us? asked the elder from Sembilan Kato Village.
we must test each of the potential leaders, answer the elders of the Batin Duo Belas Village, that is through four exams, they are burned, soaked in boiling water, made into cannon bullets and fired, finally milled with an iron refinery. anyone who made it through the test, then he is the one who has the right to become king, added the elder of the Batin Duo Belas Village.

All meeting participants agreed, they agreed to carry out the exam in three days in the Batin Duo Belas Village. they will choose the people who are considered the most powerful among them.
The time for the exam arrived. All residents of the five villages had gathered in the Inner Village of Duo Belas to watch the race for the King's title. Each village has prepared their respective representatives. the messenger from Sembilan Koto Village, began to display his magic, he was burned with a burning flame, his body remained immune. Then he was soaked in boiling water, but his body did not blister in the slightest.
then he was put in the mouth of the cannon and then ignited with fire and fired and his body remained immune. When entering the final exam, the most severe test is milled with an iron refinery. the mill had not yet been able to grind all his body, the envoy from Semblian Koto Village had roared in pain, and his bones were broken and crushed. The envoy from the Nine Koto Village was declared not to pass the exam and failed to become the king of Jambi.

His next appearance was an envoy from the village of Tujuh Koto. He was tested and made it through the first test until the third exam. However, he failed the fourth exam. The next performance was faced by delegates from the Batin Duo Belas Village, then followed by the Petajin and Muaro Sebo Villages. however, representatives of the three villages all failed through the fourth test, which was milled with an iron refinery.

Finally, the elders of the five villages again held consultations. What if we look for candidates for the Jambi king from another country? the proposal of elders from the Batin Duo Belas Village. they agreed to the proposal and immediately sent two representatives from each village to go to find a king's candidate. in each country they visited, they asked who was willing to become the king of Jambi and did not forget to mention the conditions, namely to take the four exams. But they have not found anyone willing to become the king of Jambi.

finally, the group was determined to sail the ocean on the tip of Sumatra Island. After days of being swayed by waves in the middle of the vast ocean, they arrived at the Rivet Country in India.
they traveled around the vast Rivet Land to look for people who were willing to become King of Jambi with the tests they had determined. One day, they heard the news that in a village in the Rivet Country, there was someone famous for having a high magic power.

finally, they met the magician. We are delegates from Jambi. Our country is looking for a king but with the condition to pass the exam. Are you willing? asked one of the group, then told him about the test that the king's candidate had to undergo.

I was able to undergo the test, answered the Rivet. The group immediately took the king's candidate back to Jambi. The person who was considered magic was welcomed by the people of Jambi. they hope that the candidates who come are truly powerful people, so they pass the test and become their king. The next day, like the previous king candidates, the Rivet was truly powerful, his body was not charred, not even one of his ruffled feathers. after being tested with the second and third exams, the person persisted. And lastly the Rivet will face the most severe test, which is ground with a large iron refinery. Residents who watched holding their breath. This is a thrilling moment. first of all, both ends of the Rivet's toes are put into an iron refinery. The refinery began to rotate and little by little the body of the Rivet moved forward interested in a rotating iron refinery.

all the people who watched him turn a blind eye, they were unable to see the body of the Rivet crumbling. But a few moments later there was a loud explosion, the large iron refinery was smashed to pieces, while the Rivet remained immune and fresh.

the people were very happy, because they managed to find the powerful king of Jambi, finally we have a powerful king and are able to lead this country! said one happy resident.

then the entire population of Tujuh Koto Village, Nine Koto, Muaro Sebo, Petajin, and Batin Duo Belas immediately built a nice palace and held a festive party to inaugurate the coronation of Raja Negeri Jambi. a few months later, a beautiful palace stood and the Rivet was crowned the King of Jambi

Origin of Lake Limboto

In ancient times, the Limboto area was a vast expanse of sea. In the middle there are two high mountains, namely Boliohuto Mountain and Tilongkabila Mountain. the two mountains are directions for people who will enter Gorontalo by sea. Bilohuto Mountain shows west, while Mount Tilongkabila shows east.

At one time, sea water receded, so that the area turned into land. not long after, the area turned into a vast expanse of forest. In some places there are still visible stagnant sea water, and in some other places a number of freshwater springs appear, which then form fresh water puddles. one of these springs emits very clear and cool water. Springs that are in the middle of the forest and rarely touched by humans are called Tupalo Springs. this place is often visited by seven angels from heaven to bathe and play sprays of water.

.one day, when the seven nymphs were bathing and belching around the Tupalo spring, a handsome young man named Jilumoto crossed the place. jilumoto in local language means that a resident of heaven visits the earth by incarnating as a human. Seeing the seven angels, Jilumoto immediately hid behind a large tree. from behind the tree, he watched the seven angels who were bathing until his eyes did not blink in the slightest. beautiful angels! Jilumoto murmured in amazement.

seeing the beauty of the angels, Jilumoto suddenly had the intention to take one of their wings which was placed on a large rock, so that the owner of the wing could not fly back to heaven. That way, he can marry it. when the angels were engrossed in a joke, slowly he walked toward the place where the wings were placed. After successfully taking one of the angel wings, the handsome young man hid behind a large tree.
when the day neared the afternoon, the seven nymphs finished bathing and preparing to go home to Heaven. After reusing their respective wings, they were preparing to fly into space. However, one of them still looked confused looking for his wings. Hey, my sisters! do you see Brother's wings?

Apparently, the angel who lost the wing was the oldest angel named Mbah`i Bungale. The six siblings immediately helped the brother to look for the missing wing. They have searched here and there, but the wings have not yet been found. because the day was getting dark, the six nymphs left the brother alone near Mata Air Tupalo.Kakak ... take care of yourself Brother is good! exclaimed the youngest angel. My sister! Don't leave brother, shouted Mee'i Bungale when she saw her six siblings flying into the sky.

the six siblings ignored his shout. Stay Mbu`i Bungale alone in the woods. His heart was very sad, because he could not see his family again in Kahyangan. moments later, Jilumoto came out of his hiding place and immediately approached Mbu`i Bungale. Hey, beautiful angel! Why are you so sad? Jilumoto asked by pretending he didn't know the truth.
My wings are gone, bang! the sister could no longer return to Heaven, replied Mbu'i Bungale. Hearing that answer, Jilumoto immediately took Munti Bungale to marry. The poor angel was willing to marry Jilumoto. After marriage, they decided to live together on earth. they also look for land to grow crops. After a long time of searching, finally the couple found a hill not far from Tupalo Spring. it was on the hill that they set up a simple house and farmed by planting various types of edible plants. They named the hill Huntu lo Ti`opo or Bukit Kapas.

on one day, Mbah`i Bungali received a shipment of Bimelula, which was a mustika the size of a duck egg from Kahyangan. He stored it near the Tupalo spring and covered it with a tolu or hood. a few days later, there were four travelers from the east who passed and saw the dead Tupalo water. As soon as they saw the clear and cold water, they immediately drank it because of thirst after traveling a considerable distance. after drinking, one of them saw a hood lying near the Tupalo spring.

Hey guys! Look at that thing! Isn't that a cover? Exclaimed one of the travelers. True, friend! That is a hood, said another traveler.

strange, why is there a hood in the middle of this quiet forest? said another traveler in surprise. By curiosity, they immediately approached the hood and intended to lift it. however, as soon as they wanted to touch the hood, suddenly a storm and a very strong hurricane came crashing down, then followed by heavy rain. The four travelers ran for cover to avoid danger. fortunately, the storm and hurricane did not last long, so they could survive.

After a storm and rain stopped, the four travelers returned to the Tupalo spring. They saw that the hood was still in its original place. because they were still curious to find out about the object covered by the hood, they also intended to lift the hood. Before lifting it, they spit on the top of the hood with a spit of betel nut that had been spotted so that the storm and typhoon would not occur again. how shocked they were when they raised the hood. They see a round object, which is none other than Bimelula mustika. They are also interested and want to have that mustika. but once they will take Bimelula's mustika, suddenly Mbah`i Bungale comes with her husband, Jilumoto.

Sorry, gentlemen! Please don't touch that mustika! Allow us to take it, because it belongs to us! Mbu'i Bungale asks. Hey, who are you two? very brave to claim to be the mustika owner! exclaimed a traveler leader. I Mbu`i Bungale came with my husband, Jilumoto, wanting to take that mustika, replied Mother`i Bungale calmly. This place is ours. So, no one is allowed to take the things that are here, including this mustika! Snapped the leader of the traveler. What is the proof that this place and must be yours? Ask Mbui'i Bungale. The leader of the traveler replied: You want see the proof? look at the betel nut above the hood! We were the ones who gave him, said the leader of the traveler. Hearing the recognition of the travelers, Mbu`i Bungale just smiled. Hey, I remind you all! This spring area is revealed by Almighty God to people who like to be kind among all beings in this world. Not given to greedy and greedy people like you. But, if it is true that you are the owner and ruler in this place, expand this spring! take out all your abilities, I'm ready to challenge you! exclaim, Mee'i Bungale. The four travelers are also willing to accept the challenge of Mbah`i Bungale. The leader of the traveler immediately reads the mantradan, removing all his abilities.

Wei Our springs! extends and enlarges, so the spell sounds. Many times the leader of the traveler reads the spell, but not the slightest hint of a sign that the spring will expand and expand. Seeing their leader start to run out of steam, the three traveler's men immediately helped. although they have combined strength and magic, Tupalo springs have not changed in the slightest. Eventually all four travelers were exhausted. Seeing them exhausted and sweating, Mom'i Bungale smiled again. Hey, why are you stopping! show us that the spring belongs to you! Or maybe you guys have given up! Exclaim Mbu`i Bungale.

Shut up, bro! Don't just be good at talking, the leader of the traveler is back to challenging Mbah`i Bungale. If you are the owner of this spring, prove it to us too !& rdquo; All right, gentlemen! Know that God knows where his servant is right, his request will be granted! Said Ma'i Bungale with full confidence.

After saying that, Mom'i Bungale immediately sat cross-legged next to her husband while crossing her arms. His mouth was too busy reading prayer.
woyi, water of life, magic spring, spring that has blessings. Widen and expand, O spring of the angels. enlarge.

after praying, Mbah`i Bungale immediately invited her husband and ordered the four travelers to go up to the highest tree, because the area would soon sink. Mbah`i Bungale's prayer was granted. moments later, the earth's stomach suddenly thundered, the ground trembled and thundered. Slowly the Tupalo spring widened and expanded, then spat out very heavy water. In an instant, the place was flooded. the four travelers were amazed at the miracle from the kapok tree.

Increasingly, the puddle was getting higher and almost reached the fourth place of travelers who were in the kapok tree. They were screaming frightened. Even though Mee'i Bungale! We claim to be wrong. You are the owner of this place and everything in it! The chief traveler shouted.

Mbah`i Bungale is a forgiving angel. immediately he begged God that the Tupalo springs would be returned as before, so the puddle did not increase and drowned the four travelers. Not long afterwards, the spurt of water in the Tupalo spring returned to its original state. they dropped from the tree. Mbu`i Bungale immediately took the Bimelula hood and mustika. Miraculously, when he put it on his hand, the duck-like mustika suddenly hatched and a very beautiful baby girl came out. His face glowed like moonlight. Mrs. Bungie gave her the name Tolango Hula, taken from the word Tilango lo Hulalo which means moonlight. According to the story, it was Tolango Hula who later became King of Limboto.

after that, Ms` Bungale and her husband immediately took the little girl and invited the four travelers to their home. When he was about to leave the place, suddenly Mother Bungale saw five floating objects in the middle of the lake.
Hi, what is that thingMbu'i Bungale exclaimed, pointing at the object. Because of curiosity, Mom'i Bungale immediately took the five objects. Wasn't this an orange fruit? observe the fruit.

after pinching and kissing the fruit, then observing it, then rest assured, Mee`i Bungale that the citrus fruit is the same as the one in Kahyangan. To further convince him, he intended to examine the trees that grow around the lake.

Kanda, please take Tolango Hula! dinda wanted to check the trees around this lake. Probably among the trees there is an orange tree that grows, said Mother Bungale while handing her baby to the husband, Jilumoto.

after a few moments of searching and checking, Mbu'i Bungale finally found some orange trees that were in full fruit. To ensure that the tree found was actually an orange tree from Heaven, he immediately called her husband to observe him. Panda, come here for a whileexclaimed Mom'i Bungale. Try to watch this tree and citrus fruit! Isn't this fruit like orange Kahyangan, Kanda? He said. His husband immediately approached the orange tree while carrying their baby. after holding it and observing it, he also believed that the tree and citrus fruit came from Heaven. You are right, Dinda! This orange tree is like the one in Heaven, said Jilumoto.Dinda was surprised! Why is there an orange tree growing around this lake? Mbu`i Bungale said in surprise.

a few moments later, Mom'i Bungale realized that the existence of an orange tree around the lake was a gift from the Almighty God. to commemorate the event that had just happened in the area, Mbu`i Bungale and her husband named the lake Bulalo lo limu o tutu, which means lake of oranges from Kahyangan. over time, local people call it Bulalo lo Limutu or better known as Limboto Lake.
