The origin of Kemaro Island

In ancient times, in the Kingdom of Srivijaya there was a daughter named Siti Fatimah. Siti Fatimah is beautiful and kind so many handsome young people from various parts of the archipelago come, but none of them can conquer the heart of Siti Fatimah's daughter.

but one day, a large ship came from China, together with a group led by a prince named Tan Bun An. He came to trade in the Kingdom of Srivijaya. He then faced His Majesty.

when he asked permission from King Sriwijaya, he met the daughter of the king named Siti Fatimah. He immediately fell in love, as did Siti Fatimah. They also make love and intend to go to the aisle.
then, Tan Bun An went to the King to ask for blessing. Paduka, the arrival of the servant was facing me, because I wanted to express my desire to ask Putri Siti Fatimah to become the wife of my servant, said Tan Bun An.
the king of Srivijaya thought for a moment. He knew that Tan Bun An was the crown prince of a large kingdom in China, so he didn't mind his daughter marrying the young man.
Young man, I know you're a good young man. I don't mind my daughter marrying you. however, you must provide seven jars of gold.

Tan Bun Ann agreed to the conditions proposed by the King. Then Tan Bun An invited the Siti Fatimah to mainland China to see Tan Bun An's parents. after some time, they returned to the Kingdom of Srivijaya and included seven jars containing gold.

Arriving at the mouth of the Musi River Tan Bun An wanted to see the gold prize in the jars. But what a surprise because what is seen is mustard-vegetables.

Oh no! why does it contain only collarded mustard vegetables? I will be ashamed of my future parents-in-law! thought Tan Bun An panic. Without thinking, he threw the jars into the sea, but the last jar dropped on the deck and broke. It turns out that there is gold in it.

again and again without thinking Tan Bun An plunged into the river to take gold in the jars he had thrown away. & nbsp; A bodyguard also jumped in to help.

siti Fatimah, who had witnessed the incident since then, ran to the edge of the river and waited for her husband's colon to appear from inside the Musi River. However, until late afternoon, the two people did not show up.
the beautiful princess finally followed and plunged into the Musi River to look for her future husband. Before jumping, Putri advised the ladies in residence.

if later you see a pile of land appearing on the surface of the river, that is my grave, said Princess Siti Fatimah then plunged into the river.
No one returns to the surface. a few days later, on the banks of the Musi River came a pile of earth like a mound. The more days, the mound of land grew wider, until it became an island.

The local community named the island Kamaro Island which means dry. the name was chosen, because the condition of the island was never flooded even though the water level in the Musi River was increasing. On the island there is a rather large mound of land and is believed to be the tomb of Princess Siti Fatimah.
